Boys to Men Mentoring does not provide counseling or clinical mental health care. If you or a loved one needs urgent help, please connect with a crisis resource that can provide real-time support. 


988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
 

  • Call or text the number 988 for a 24/7 service that serves people who are experiencing suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, or substance use crises. They have the ability to dispatch a mobile crisis response team if necessary. 

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Helpline

  • Call 1-800-9506264 or text “HELPLINE” to 62640 for a free, confidential service that provides one-on-one emotional support, mental health information, and resources. Available Monday-Friday 10:00 am-10:00 pm. 

Crisis Text Line

  • Text “HELLO” to 741741 for a free 24/7 text-based service that connects individuals with trained crisis counselors for immediate support. 

        National Domestic Violence Hotline

  • Call 1-800-799-SAFE(7233) or text “START” to 88788 for a 24/7 confidential service for people experiencing domestic violence, offering crisis counseling, safety planning, and connections to local shelters and legal resources. 

Virginia Community Service Boards (CSBs)

  • Access the “CSB/BHA directory” feature to find your local resources. CSBs offer mental health, substance use, and crisis intervention services that are available in your community. 

ChildSavers

  • Call (804) 305-2420 for an immediate response helpline. They also offer therapy for children within outpatient, school, virtual, or in-person settings.

Comfort Zone Camp

  • Provides free grief support camps and virtual meetings for ages 7-25 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. 

Richmond Behavioral Health Authority

  • Call (804) 819-4100 for 24/7 crisis response services for individuals in the greater Richmond area. 

We Help Our Adolescents (WHOA)

  • Support for individuals in need of crisis stabilization, counseling, intensive in-home care, treatment for substance abuse, and crisis residential services. 

Colonial Heights Juvenile and Domestic Violence Task Force

  • Call 1-800-838-8238 for the Virginia Family Violence and Sexual Assault 24-hour Hotline. Call (804) 458-2840 for the James House Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Intervention and Prevention. Support groups and children’s programs are available.

  • For a child who is in need of therapeutic residential care, call the Crisis Stabilization Unit at (804) 874-9119
  • The Crisis Response and Stabilization team (CReST) is a service for individuals ages 5-18 who are experiencing a crisis. To contact, call 1-833-968-1800. Through the REACH services, this hotline is prepared to assist individuals with developmental disabilities.
