2019 Golf Tournament Recap

Dear Sponsors , Golfers & Volunteers,

Thank you all for another successful golf tournament. We received a lot of very positive feedback as well as some suggestions to further improve the event next year. This year we decided to continue to have a Party on the Green. We held a closest to the pin contest which was won by Kathy Naworal, the BCC ladies champ. We had Jeff Crittenden do a demonstration that was very well received and will definitely be included next year. He put on quite a clinic and received many questions. We also got me meet and hear from former LPGA star Donna Andrews.  Her LPGA career started in 1990.  She won six titles between 1993 and 1998, including a major championship, the 1994 Nabisco Dinah Shore.  And we ended with a closest to the pin contest between Chris McNeil(BCC GM), Kathy, Jeff and Donna. Donna showed she could still place a great shot & won the contest.

We retired to the club house for some food, drink, a photo booth and music. The photo booth was very well received.

On Monday we had 128 converge at Brandermill CC for a hot, dry day of golf. Unlike last year that was wet & slow this year the course was dry & fast. After being welcomed by Director Don Van Liew of AT&T the tournament began

As is customary we had the legendary Jeff “Critter” Crittenden , 2019 Masters Long Drive Champion, tee off for most teams on Hole #5.  One team got a double eagle as a result!.

This year we added TrackMan. We hope you enjoyed it.

We then proceeded to the clubhouse for the banquet & awards ceremony. This year we decided to do a 1st & 2nd flight for first place winners: The winners of Flight 1 were Chris Schwarz, Chad Currie, Curtis Witham and JC Rogers. The Winners of Flight 2 were Patrick Scherder, Dan Scherder, Dave Hoffmeister and Dan Brennan.  Congratulations on a great game.

A plaque was presented to Greg Lannes of AT&T for all the support he provided this year as the local AT&T leader.

And this year, due to the continued generosity of Jacobs, we received a Pinehurst Golf Package (US Open Course) that helped us to significantly increase our revenue. The winner of that prize was Ginny Joyner.

This tournament was a financial success as well. We raised over $50,000 which is about 25% of our annual operating budget and will help us to continue to grow our program. This school year we already have 24 weekly circles committed, about 6 other schools that are interested, and are in every(13) Middle School in Chesterfield County. We expect to serve about 225 boys each week.

We had about $30,000 in sponsorship contributed by 34 sponsors.

Thank you to all of the folks at AT&T . Vince Apruzzese has been invaluable in AT&T’s support of BTMVA. Carolyn Mitchell & Greg Lannes with support from Michelle Sprinkle helped immensely to get the continued support of AT&T and their vendor network, including several new vendors. Thanks to Don Van Liew for joining us this year & for his kind words & support.
